Lim's was a stupendous achievement not just for an 18-year-old and deserves its stand-alone presentation. Thanks to his surfeit of technical wizardry and determination to take nothing for granted musically, he deservedly joins the select company of elevated interpreters mustering Martha Argerich, Horowitz and the composer himself.

The excitement of the occasion, when everyone knew that a new star was appearing before their very eyes, is conveyed on disc. Your hardened reviewer is not ashamed to admit that, once again, it moved him to tears.

he is the real thing, a once-in-a-generation talent...What is immediately striking is the sheer confidence and poise of everything he does, and the overriding sense that there is never any doubt about the direction in which this majestic concerto should be taken; it’s hard to believe that this is the performance of an 18-year-old.
